Clinical Pharmacist

The Pharmacist is responsible for the day-to­day operations of the department, both clinically and administratively, ensuring quality patient care and services are rendered in timely manner. The Pharmacist reports directly to the Director or Senior Clinical Pharmacist.

Job Responsibilities/Duties

  • Compounds, prepares, mixes, manufactures and dispenses medicines and preparations.
  • Performs assay and quality control tests.
  • Answers questions regarding drugs for physicians, professional and nonprofessional staff and patients.
  • Prepares stock solutions, replenishes shelf stock after applying labels and pricing stock.
  • Maintains narcotic and hypnotic medication records.
  • May prepare IV additives and unit doses.
  • Supervises the Pharmacy Technicians when dispensing medications.


Minimum Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy recognized by the California State Board of Pharmacy. An advanced degree such as a Doctor of Pharmacy or Masters of Sciences is preferred.  

Minimum Experience: Previous experience as a Staff Pharmacist or residency in as ASHP accredited, with some supervisory experience in an acute care hospital is required. Preferably two (2) years experience in a clinical pharmacy or a residency program.

Req. Certification/Licensure: Current California Pharmacist license.
