Respiratory Therapist - Per Diem

The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for the performance of all respiratory modalities including but not limited to: administration of respiratory medications via Hand Held Nebulizer, IPPB or online via a mechanical ventilator or during non-invasive ventilation. Perform Arterial. Provide infant, pediatric and adult Life Saving Efforts.

Job Responsibilities/Duties

  • Under the direction of the Director, Supervisor or Senior Therapist is responsible and accountable for the performance of all respiratory modalities and respiratory assessments to patients of all ages in all patient care areas, including adult critical care and Labor & Delivery.
  • Including but not limited to: administration of respiratory medications via Hand Held Nebulizer, IPPB or online via a mechanical ventilator or during non-­invasive ventilation.
  • Perform Arterial Blood Gas puncture and analysis, Oxygen Therapy, Invasive and Non­Invasive Ventilator management, assists physician with performing Bronchoscopy, changing of Tracheostomy tubes when ordered, provide patient education, initiate and update patient care plan.
  • Provides consultation, instruction, and/or technical direction to nursing, and other staff members
  • Follow Respiratory / Pulmonary department policy and procedures.
  • Sets up and operates various types of equipment to administer prescribed treatment plan to include doses of medicinal gases and aerosolized drugs to patients.


Minimum Education: Graduate of an approved one to two (1-2) year Respiratory Therapy program and successfully passed the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) examination.

Minimum Experience: New Graduate will be considered or one to five (1-5) years acute clinical experience required.

Req. Certification/Licensure: Current certification (CRT) or Registration (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care, Current California licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP). Current American Heart Association (BCLS), (ACLS) Certification. Current American Heart Association (PALS) Certification within 90 days from date of hire.
