Recreational Therapist - BHU

The Recreational Therapist for the (BHU) is responsible for therapeutic procedures and programs to maintain and/or restore patient's physical, psychological, intellectual, and social capabilities in accordance with specific milieu objectives. As a Therapist you will be working in a Behavioral Center of Excellence in Los Angeles and be part of a team that is on the cutting edge in its approach.



Job Responsibilities/Duties

  • Facilitates initial and ongoing assessment; provides group and individual treatment interventions; coordinates care objectives with interdisciplinary team.
  • Evaluates and assesses patient needs relative to gross motor coordination, group behavior, interpersonal relationships, and proficiency in various recreation and leisure activities.
  • Establishes treatment objectives and determines modalities by which they can be achieved.
  • Implements a range of individual and group recreation activities based upon the evaluation and treatment objectives.
  • Collaborates with other staff to ensure program integration and optimal planning.
  • Maintains records and makes written and oral reports concerning patient care and treatment area operations.
  • Maintains current information on community resources and assists patient in the process of post-hospital community Integration.


Qualifications

Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in Recreational Therapy or related discipline. Masters in Drama Therapy or related therapy preferred.  

Minimum Experience: One (1) year of paid clinical experience in mental health (day treatment and/or acute) or related setting preferred. New graduate eligible for certification may be considered.

Req. Certification/Licensure: Licensed as ATR; Current American Heart Association (BLS) Certification, CPI, MAB or NVCPI Certification.
