Quality Management Coordinator

Coordinator is responsible for providing a range of administrative and analytical functions critical to the implementation of the quality assurance and performance improvement program through effective identification of sources and collection of data, including medical record review and query of various databases/information systems across the organization to ensure compliance and improvement in quality of care and patient safety.



Job Responsibilities/Duties

  • Initiates, coordinates and participates in quality improvement and patient safety related committee meetings. Coordinates agenda and minute preparation , makes presentations, coordinates task-forces, and follows up on action items. Communicates in a clear concise, and complete manner with upper management, peers, department staff, other disciplines within the hospital, outside agencies, and other entities to ensure prompt and proper exchange of information and resolution of issues.
  • Assures that assigned projects are in compliance with all applicable laws, regulatory agency requirements, accreditation requirements, and organizational policies/procedures. Conducts audits of compliance and reports findings according to chain of command.
  • Participates in clinical quality improvement projects across  Southern California Hospital clinical care areas. Works with project leaders to implement project plans and assist in the achievement of desired outcomes. Documents progress and any variance from the plan, including reasons for variation. Contributes to the ongoing analysis of the project. Serves as a resource relative to quality improvement Participates in ongoing survey readiness activities through rounding and documenting and providing feedback to the appropriate leaders.  Performs independent data integrity audits for clinical processes, improvement projects, and regulatory compliance, results are documented and reported to the appropriate leaders.
  • Identifies information sources and oversees collection of data through a variety of mechanisms, including medical record review, query of various databases or information systems. Provides meaningful analysis of data used to monitor clinical quality improvement initiatives. Contributes to written and verbal reports/presentations, prepares dashboards and statistical analysis and makes recommendations based on evaluation of data May report data to interdisciplinary performance improvement committees and teams based on organizational initiatives.
  • Actively engages in caring behaviors, taking conscious ownership for work and takes proactive, deliberate, and thoughtful actions regarding work activities. Demonstrates appropriate use of independent judgement and decision making.  Demonstrates excellent customer service at all times.  Ensure patients privacy and dignity at all times.


​Qualifications

Minimum Education: B.A.or B.S. degree in related field is preferred. 

Minimum Experience: Knowledge of Quality Improvement methodologies. Minimum 2 years acute care hospital Quality Improvement experience required. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the organization. Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in operational transactions and communications. Ability to prioritize and contribute to simultaneous projects and facilitate teamwork among project staff/participants. Excellent interpersonal communication skills to communicate effectively with physicians and managers and high-level administrative staff as well as support staff who are critical to departmental functions. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Req. Certification/Licensure: CPHQ Certification and RN/LVN/Lab/Pharmacy experience in acute care setting preferred.
