Nurse Staffing Assistant

The Nurse Staffing Assistant (Non-RN) is responsible for developing and maintaining staffing schedules for nursing services department and maintains all related records. Serves as resource person regarding scheduling and staffing procedures.



Job Responsibilities/Duties

  • A support member of the nursing department responsible for staffing each nursing unit according to census and mandated nurse patient ratios, entering all pertinent information as it relates to schedules, licenses and certifications in to ANSOS, assisting the unit directors with clerical needs, supporting ANS through-out assigned shifts by gathering data & all other duties as assigned by CNO.
  • Assigns staff according to patient acuity on a daily basis to ensure adequate staffing on all units and shifts.
  • Identifies potential staffing problems and resolves as appropriate.
  • May assist with timekeeping functions by maintaining sick time, late call, other attendance records and staffing statistics.
  • Performs related clerical functions within staffing office (answering phones, typing, filing, etc.).
  • Consults with Nursing Director regarding staffing decisions.


Qualifications

Minimum Education: High School diploma or equivalent.

Minimum Experience: One (1) year staffing experience, ability to type minimum of 30 wpm and computer skills including word processing and Microsoft. Microsoft Office Certification a plus.

Req. Certification/Licensure: None.
